Hubbell Communications is a public affairs firm that specializes in building the next generation of sustainable communities. We focus on helping plan, design, and build infrastructure, energy solutions, and commerce districts in Oregon, Washington, California, Texas, and the Mid-Atlantic region.
Our work focuses on the systemic challenges in energy, transportation, housing, and digital connectivity. This puts us at the intersections of community development, land use planning, sustainability, and private investment in everything from renewable energy facilities to data centers to the revitalization of our downtown core.
We help clients make progress on delivering critical economic benefits and services to make communities better places to live, work, and play – for everyone.
As our Vice President of Energy & Development, you will be at the forefront of our agency's efforts to shape strategy, manage teams, and ensure client success—particularly within the utility, renewable energy, and industrial land use sectors.
Candidates for this role will have 10+ years of consulting experience working in a mixture of land use planning, siting, and vision planning for renewable energy, industrial sites, digital infrastructure, and/or mixed-use and master planning development.
You will have experience navigating the regulatory process for planning and building proposed infrastructure projects in urban and rural communities.
Team Leadership
You will lead our public affairs initiatives and guide projects from the initial scope of work through management and execution of tasks and deliverables. You will be responsible for leading client engagements with confidence, mentoring staff and managing workflow across teams.
Project Strategy + Management
This position is responsible for helping develop and execute public affairs campaigns that influence policy, shape public opinion, and help our clients meet their objectives. You will provide clients and project teams with a clear strategic vision and define an approach that delivers measurable outcomes.

Your insights will help us anticipate changes and opportunities in the market. This includes confidence giving presentations to both client teams and public speaking opportunities at conferences, forums, and industry events.

Finalists for this role will be required to provide appropriate writing samples and/or engage in a writing exercise as part of their screening process.
Public speaking / presentations. You will be confident and comfortable preparing detailed, clear presentations for client teams and speaking at a mix of both client and community events – including industry panels, conferences, and civic forums.
Research and public opinion data analysis.
